What is Aquathlon?

Aquathlon is a multisport race consisting of elements of continuous running and swimming. Competitors complete a swim immediately followed by a run of varying distances in a continuous swim and run event.

Who can take part?

  1. All registered TFNM (Triathlon Federation of North Macedonia) athletes, club members, and all recreational athletes who wish to compete. Participation is at one’s own responsibility and all participants sign a statement to that effect, their parents/guardians do it on behalf of the children.
  2. COMPETITORS MUST BE ABLE TO SWIM WITHOUT SWIMMING AID and should be able to confidently swim the distance for their age group (see table Categories by generations).
  3. We want to encourage as many people as possible to participate in the competition, but we as organizers reserve the right to refuse entry to participants who we consider do not meet the necessary conditions.

What will I need on the day of the competition?

  1. All participants will need a bathing suit, optional goggles, and a towel. For the running part, they will need a t-shirt and training/running shoes.
  2. No one competing in the Aquathlon may wear jewelry.

On the day…

  1. Competitors will need to arrive on time for registration, where they will receive an electronic bracelet and will be marked with a felt-tip pen.
  2. All competitors will receive a medal at the end of the race.
  3. All results/rankings of the competitors for each age group will be available on the website of our official match meter Tag timing Macedonia.

The last day to register is August 18, 23:59. The last day for registration in which you will have the opportunity to add a Dry Fit T-shirt is August 4, 23:59. The number of competitors is limited, registration can be closed earlier if the expected number is filled.

Issuance of start packs

Start package – chip (issued at race registration on Sunday), regular backpack, gift from sponsors, insurance, and a Dry Fit T-shirt if you choose that option. Start package pickup will be on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at K’J Divono Beach (map). On the same day from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at K’J Divono Beach, we will be available to all those who need further explanation about the route and of course to answer any questions you may have regarding the races, maps, and everything else.

Note: The organizer reserves the right to change the starter package.

Swimming

Swimming takes place on the “KJ Divono beach” and it is laid out as a triangle. The start is in front of the beach itself and competitors start from within the water.

Running

The race takes place on the “Studencishta” track to its end point near the bridge at the Studencishta canal.

Registration fee

  • Masters, Seniors, Juniors, and Cadets – 15 euros
  • Children 2 – 10 euros
  • Children 1 – free of charge

Scoring

The race is the official Aquathlon State Championship.

Technical rules

Participants are obliged to follow the rules of ITU (International Triathlon Union) and TFNM (Triathlon Federation of North Macedonia) and participation in the race is their own responsibility and all the consequences are the responsibility of the competitors.

Timetable, August 25 (Sunday)

Registration:
07:00 AM – 08:00 AM

Start of the races:
08:30 AM – Master/Seniors/Juniors/Cadets
09:30 AM – Children 2
10:15 AM – Children 1
11:00 AM – Award ceremony

Race timetable:
The timetable will be published additionally and it depends on the total number of participants by category.

Note: If the total number of participants exceeds the number predicted for 2024 by category, the organizer reserves the right to move some of the races to August 24, Saturday, for which all participants will be promptly notified.

Transition

The transition will be on the concrete pad immediately after exiting the water and it will be marked appropriately for each competitor (by starting number).

Refreshment stations

There will be two refreshment stations on the running track (water, electrolytes, and fruits).

Start/finish zone

The start/finish zone and the running route are marked on the map.

Awards

Each participant who completes the race will receive a medal/finisher while all first place competitors will receive a medal and a diploma.
